Surplus pallets sitting in your yard are cash you have not collected yet. Whether you have 50 pallets or 50,000, we buy used pallets directly — fairly priced, efficiently picked up, and paid promptly. No brokers, no middlemen, no long payment cycles.

We have structured our buyback program to be as frictionless as possible for businesses that do not want to spend management time on pallet logistics. Submit your inventory, receive an assessment, schedule a pickup, get paid. That is the entire process. We have been doing this since 2008 from our facility at 319 Wilson Ave, Norwalk CT, and we have purchased pallets from over 400 businesses across Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts.

Process

How the Buyback Process Works — 5 Steps

From first contact to payment in your bank account, here is exactly what happens. Most sellers complete the entire process in under two weeks.

01

Submit Your Inventory

Complete our quick sell form, call (203) 840-8008, or email sell@norwalkpallets.com. Tell us your approximate quantity, pallet type (GMA 48x40, other standard sizes, mixed), general condition, and your facility address. Photos are helpful but not required — a brief description of condition and quantity is enough to get the process started.

02

Free On-Site Assessment

For lots of 200+ pallets, we send a team member to your location for a free on-site grading assessment. Our assessor will count, sort by grade, and photograph the inventory. For smaller lots (under 200 units), we offer a remote photo assessment — you send us photos and approximate counts, and we provide a price range within hours.

03

Receive a Written Buyback Offer

Within 24–48 hours of assessment, we provide a written buyback offer with a full breakdown: quantity by grade, price per unit, total payout, and pickup logistics. Our offers are based on current market conditions, your location, and lot quality. There is no obligation to accept — compare us with any other buyer.

04

We Handle All Pickup Logistics

Accept the offer and we schedule pickup at a time that works for your facility. Our trucks and crew handle all loading. You do not need a forklift, loading dock, or labor — we bring our own equipment. All we need is reasonable access and a clear staging area. Pickup is free for qualifying volumes.

05

Fast Payment — 3 to 5 Business Days

Payment is issued within 3–5 business days of completed pickup. Choose ACH bank transfer for the fastest settlement, or company check if you prefer. For standing-account customers, we offer monthly consolidated payments and account credit that can be applied toward future pallet purchases.

Accepted Types

What We Buy

We buy virtually every type of standard commercial pallet. If it is made of wood or plastic and is not contaminated, we are interested. Here is a detailed breakdown.

GMA 48x40 Pallets (All Grades)

Our highest-demand item. We buy Grade A, B, and C in any volume. We sort and re-grade on intake — you do not need to pre-sort.

Other Standard Sizes

42x42, 48x48, 40x48, 36x36, and other common dimensions. Pricing varies by size and current demand.

Stringer Pallets

Both 2-way and 4-way entry stringer pallets. Block-style and stringer-style construction welcome.

Partially Damaged Pallets

Repairable damage is not a problem — broken boards, popped nails, minor stringer cracks. We repair these and put them back into service.

Mixed / Unsorted Lots

Do not have time to sort? No problem. We buy mixed-size and mixed-grade lots and sort them at our facility. Pricing reflects the additional handling.

Plastic Pallets (HDPE)

We buy used plastic pallets in functional condition. Call for pricing — plastic pallet values fluctuate with resin markets.

Overstock and One-Time Surplus

Closing a warehouse, ending a lease, consolidating facilities? We buy entire surplus inventories in a single transaction.

Regular Accumulation

Receiving pallets faster than you ship them? Set up a standing pickup program and we collect your surplus on a weekly or monthly schedule.

Pricing Factors

What Affects Your Buyback Price

We price buybacks based on real market conditions and actual logistics costs. Here is what moves the needle — and how you can maximize your payout.

Grade / Condition

Primary driver. Grade A pallets return 3–4x more than Grade C. Clean, structurally sound pallets command premium pricing because they require minimal processing before resale.

Quantity

Larger lots attract better per-unit pricing due to truck-loading efficiency and reduced per-unit logistics cost. A pickup of 500 pallets costs us roughly the same in truck time as a pickup of 200.

Location / Proximity

Proximity to our Norwalk CT yard reduces fuel and drive time, which allows us to offer more. Fairfield County pickups typically receive our strongest pricing.

Stackability & Organization

Pre-stacked and organized lots load faster, reducing crew time. We reward organized sellers with higher per-unit offers — it is a measurable efficiency gain for us.

Market Demand & Seasonality

Lumber prices, seasonal shipping surges (Q4 holiday season especially), and regional supply-demand dynamics affect buyback rates. Fall and early winter are typically our strongest buying months.

Lot Consistency

A uniform-grade lot of 500 identical pallets is worth significantly more per unit than 500 random mixed pallets, because sorted inventory moves faster through our system.

Access & Loading Conditions

Easy truck access (paved lot, clear staging area, no height restrictions) vs. difficult access (tight alley, unpaved ground, multi-story) affects our logistics cost and therefore the offer.

Frequency / Relationship

Regular sellers with standing pickup agreements receive preferred pricing. Predictable volume allows us to plan routes and allocate trucks efficiently.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my pallets are worth selling?

If your pallets are standard GMA 48x40 and structurally intact (even with cosmetic wear), they almost certainly have buyback value. Even damaged pallets have value if they are repairable. The only pallets with zero buyback value are those that are contaminated, moldy, or broken beyond repair — and even those qualify for our free recycling program.

Do I need to sort my pallets before you pick them up?

No. We buy mixed, unsorted lots and sort them at our facility. However, pre-sorted lots do receive higher per-unit pricing because they reduce our handling time. If sorting is easy for your team, it is worth it. If not, we handle it.

How many pallets do I need for a free pickup?

Free pickup starts at 200 pallets for locations within 75 miles of Norwalk CT. For 50–199 pallets, a pickup fee may apply depending on distance (waived for Fairfield County). Under 50 pallets, the most cost-effective option is delivering to our yard at 319 Wilson Ave, Norwalk.

How fast do you pay?

ACH payment is issued within 3–5 business days of completed pickup. Most sellers see the deposit in their account within a week of our truck leaving their facility. Company checks take 5–7 business days via mail.

Can I get paid in account credit instead of cash?

Yes. If you also purchase pallets from us, you can apply your buyback earnings as account credit. Many customers use this to offset their ongoing pallet purchasing costs. Credits never expire and can be applied to any future order.

What areas do you cover for pickup?

We cover all of Connecticut, Southern New York (Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland counties), Western Massachusetts (Hampden, Hampshire, Worcester counties), and parts of Rhode Island. For locations outside this range, contact us — we may be able to accommodate based on volume.

Can you set up a regular pickup schedule?

Absolutely. Our Regular Pickup Program is designed for businesses that accumulate pallets on an ongoing basis. Choose weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickups. You get a guaranteed truck slot, preferred pricing, and monthly reporting. Adjust frequency anytime with 48-hour notice.

What if my pallets are damaged — will you still buy them?

Yes, as long as the damage is repairable. Broken deck boards, popped nails, cracked stringers — we repair these every day. Severely damaged pallets that cannot be repaired still qualify for our free recycling program, so nothing goes to waste.

Do you provide documentation for sustainability reporting?

Yes. For standing-account customers, we provide monthly reports detailing total units recovered, estimated landfill diversion weight, and CO2 offset metrics. This data can be used for ESG reporting, corporate sustainability disclosures, and waste reduction audits.

Is there a contract or commitment required?

No. You can sell to us once or a thousand times. There is no contract, no commitment, and no exclusivity requirement. Our standing pickup program is popular but entirely flexible — you can pause or cancel with 48-hour notice.
